Fascination with computers led me to the intersection of applied arts, information technology, and fast-growing markets. I feel at home at their cutting edge, where sparks of innovation fly around.

I like to work on challenges where design is essential for a product's success, e.g., where the extent and complexity of must-have functionality break typical interface patterns and the form factor isn't clear, or where simplifying an industry-standard UX flow becomes a winning edge.

Because I can hand-code HTML and CSS, I know which low-level levers to pull to get the desired results and deliver interfaces with a high level of polish. Working knowledge of front-end, back-end, and software architectures enables me to collaborate with engineers to pursue great ideas, sometimes beyond what's deemed technically possible or reasonable.

The mileage has taught me to weigh design decisions not just by their impact on UX, but also on the company's commercial and operational aspects to find an optimal balance. Along the way, I picked up extensive knowledge of proven best practices and a knack for qualitative and quantitative research, which I use to interpret user behavior and pinpoint what needs improving and what's better off retired.

The way I see it, product design is an act of marrying art and science to produce a hit within real-world constraints. It requires sagacity to know when to build which part, which corners you can cut to still deliver on time and budget without sacrificing quality, and how to navigate murky waters. Good design comes from deeply immersing yourself in the problem and the world of people you're designing for, so you see the solution from their perspective.

My style is to lead by example: staying at the forefront as a hands-on design practitioner, despite operating at senior management level.

Some of my work won awards, but what matters more is the track record of consistently improving KPIs and having shipped products that made market waves on more than one occasion.
